Welcome from Sir David Latham, Chairman
I am delighted that you are considering applying for a Parole Board Member position and trust you will find the following information site, both informing and thought provoking, as you understand more about our organisation.
We live in a changing world and the constitutional independence of The Parole Board will be paramount as we address the future needs of legislation and case law. The Board has many challenges ahead, not least the ability to address the current case workload and the need to streamline processes, whilst contributing towards the broad criminal justice agenda.
These are exciting opportunities for people who are passionate about our work, who understand the far-reaching effect that our decisions can have and who approach their work with integrity and objectivity. These roles are highly demanding, cover difficult and often conflicting topics and will test your ability to make reasoned decisions against a range of conflicting factors, although highly rewarding.
The work of a Parole Board member is demanding but rewarding and of the greatest important to the Criminal Justice System. The Board is looking for people of ability who consider they can meet the challenges of Parole Board work.
Successful candidates will find that they have joined a team of dedicated and extremely impressive people with whom it is a privilege to work.
If you have what it takes to make an impact as a Parole Board Member and can demonstrate a track record of achievement in your chosen field, then we would very much like to hear from you.
Please take your time to read this information carefully and consider your ability and capacity to contribute towards our Board.
Sir David Latham
Chairman, The Parole Board
